The Affects of Different Queuing Algorithms within the Router on QoS VoIP application Using OPNET

چکیده
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a service from the internet services that allows users to communicate with each other. Quality of Service (QoS) is very sensitive to delay so that VOIP needs it. The objective of this research is study the effect of different queuing algorithms within the router on VoIP QoS. In this work, simulation tool “OPNET Modeler version 14.0” is used to implement the proposed network (VoIP Network). The proposed network is a private network for a company that has two locations located at two different countries around the world in order to simulate the communications within the same location as a local and the communications between two locations as a long distance and analyze VoIP QoS through measuring the major factors that affect the QoS for VoIP according to international telecommunication union (ITU) standards such as: delay, jitter and packet loss. In this research , a comparison was carried out between different queue algorithms like First in First out (FIFO), Priority queue (PQ) and Weight Fair Queuing (WFQ) and it was found that PQ and WFQ algorithms are the most appropriate to improve VoIP QoS .

Evaluating the Impact of Routing on QoS of VoIP over MANET Wireless Networks
In this paper, a performance analysis study for VoIP over mobile wireless ad hoc networks (MANET) is carried out using OPNET tool. The AODV, DSR, TORA, OLSR, and GRP routing protocols have been used as candidates to evaluate the impact of routing on quality of service (QoS) of VoIP application over MANET networks. Three different queuing mechanisms (FIFO, PQ, and WFQ) have been used also as nom...
متن کاملImpact of hybrid queuing disciplines on the VoIP traffic delay
The paper presents different combinations of queuing methods and their impact on the VoIP traffic delay within the network. In our experiment we combined three of the most useful queuing methods where we put together priority queuing (PQ) with class-based weighted fair queuing (CBWFQ), custom queuing (CQ) with CBWFQ and weighted fair queuing (WFQ) with CBWFQ. Each hybrid method is compared with...
متن کاملImplementation of Traffic Conditioning and PHB mechanisms in OPNET
Differentiated Service Model (DiffServ) is currently a popular research topic as a low-cost method to bring QoS to today’s Internet, especially in the backbone. The DiffServ architecture consists of two key components: traffic conditioning at the edge and Per Hop Behavior (PHB) at the edge and the core. Traffic Conditioners contain various elements such as classifier, meter, marker, shaper and ...
متن کاملDetermining the Issues to Consider When Deploying VoIP onto a Small Enterprise Network
In this paper, we report some lessons learnt when deploying VoIP onto a small enterprise network. While these lessons resulted from a small network environment, some of the issues could have a more general applicability. Some theoretical analyses were first conducted, followed by some experimental work. An experiment was conducted for about 24 hours in order to capture the network measurement o...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Queuing Disciplines for Difference Services Using OPNET Tool
Now a day Internet only provides Best Effort Service. Traffic is processed as earliest as possible, but there is no assurance of timelines or real delivery. With the fast transformation of the Internet into a commercial infrastructure, demands for service quality have quickly developed. People of the current world are very much dependent on various network services like VOIP, Videoconferencing ...
